North Palm Beach fully supports the Surf Life Saving Australia and trains all its members, Senior and Junior, Patrols and Patrol Captains, IRB drivers and Crews, Resuscitation and First Aid teams, using the guidelines and courses available through SLSA, Surf Life Saving NSW and the Australian Life Saving Academy NSW.
ACTIVE MEMBERS
The club runs courses throughout the season for new members 15 years of age and over to meet the requirements of the “Bronze Medallion” surf life saving award. This award covers the base skills, strength and knowledge required to serve as a full patrol member on Australian beaches.
Each year, members conduct proficiency updates to ensure our life savers are fit and ready for the season ahead, and remain current with surf life saving equipment and techniques.
Further training is also offered for active members to become Patrol Captains, IRB Drivers and Crew, Advanced Resuscitation and Senior First Aid team members and many other awards.
JUNIOR MEMBERS
The club operates two programmes for junior members under the age of 15.
For members between 13-15, the club operates a Cadet programme that trains the members towards the Surf Rescue Certificate. These members then serve as provisional patrol members alongside Bronze members and are mentored by the senior members in training for their Bronze Medallion exams.
For members between 7-13 years of age, the club runs a Junior Surf Safety programme which encourages younger members to learn about the beach, its dangers, how to tackle the surf and provides a great avenue for parents to gain confidence in their child’s awareness of the surf and their skills to interact with it.
